- Support HVAC preventive maintenance tasks according to approved procedures, qualification limits, and site safety rules.
- Replace or coordinate replacement of filters, belts, consumables, and other serviceable HVAC components when qualified and authorized.
- Identify airflow problems, hot spots, blocked returns, containment issues, cooling-capacity constraints, and abnormal equipment behavior.
- Assist HVAC vendors during maintenance, repairs, inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency response.
- Verify vendor work areas are restored and that service evidence is captured after work is complete.
- Support MOP/EOP execution for HVAC maintenance, emergency cooling actions, commissioning, testing, and expansion work.
- Record HVAC readings, abnormalities, alarms, work performed, parts used, and follow-up needs.
- Escalate abnormal conditions to the Facility Engineer and Director of Technical Operations based on severity.
- Perform weekly data hall inspections and provide findings to the Director of Operations and Facility Engineer.
- Performs other related duties and special projects assigned to support evolving business priorities
Candidates must show:
- Hands-on HVAC troubleshooting mindset with willingness to learn data center cooling operations and critical-environment expectations.
- Ability to read basic equipment displays, gauges, labels, work orders, checklists, and maintenance instructions.
- Understanding of temperature, humidity, airflow, filters, condensate, refrigerant safety, and mechanical-room housekeeping is helpful.
- Ability to work safely around energized equipment, mechanical equipment, water, and restricted-access environments.
- Clear communication and documentation habits for alarms, readings, completed work, and abnormal conditions.
Here’s what you need to have:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. HVAC trade school, military technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent work experience is strongly preferred.
- 2 or more years of HVAC, refrigeration, facilities maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or related field experience preferred. Data center experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience with CRAC/CRAH units, commercial HVAC, chilled water systems, condensate systems, pumps, controls, or BMS interfaces is preferred.
- EPA refrigerant certification, HVAC certification, OSHA, TESDA, or vendor equipment training preferred or ability to obtain if required for assigned work.
- Must perform only work authorized by law, license, training, and GTA policy; candidates willing to obtain additional credentials are encouraged.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between various locations
- Must be able to pass required background checks and follow data center security, safety, and access-control policies.
