Full job details
Hales AC · St. Petersburg / Tampa Bay, FL · Full-time · Commission only
The job in one paragraph: We give you pre-set appointments with Pinellas/Hillsborough county homeowners who already asked us to come out. Many come through our Costco partnership, so the trust is there before you knock. You sit at their kitchen table and find out what’s really wrong with their comfort, their bills and their air. Then you help them choose a system that fixes it. You don’t cold call, knock doors or chase leads. You’ll get real training and a proven process. You’re paid for results, and there’s no cap.
Who we are
Hales AC is part of Right Away Home Services, a family of three Florida HVAC companies. We aren’t the biggest HVAC company in Florida, and we’re working to be the best. That shows up in how we work:
- We do a sizing load calculation on every home. We size the system for the house instead of guessing.
- We never use subcontractors. Every installer is our own employee, background-checked and drug-tested.
- Every job comes with six written guarantees, including a 2-year Risk-Free Guarantee.
- We’re Costco’s HVAC partner in this market, which gives you borrowed trust in a lot of the homes you walk into.
You’ll be able to stand behind what you sell, which most sales jobs can’t offer.
Let’s talk about commission only
We know “commission only” makes people nervous, so here’s how it works:
- The leads are ours to generate. You can expect roughly 6–10 qualified appointments a week, and you never have to find your own.
- Your income comes down to four things we’ll teach you: appointments run, close rate, average ticket, and add-ons that actually help the customer (air quality, maintenance plans, water heaters).
- Commission: is a % of the sales, paid weekly.
- What advisors earn: first-year advisors who work the system typically earn $150k to $200k, and top performers earn over $250K.
If you’re good at this, you’ll earn more here than you would on salary. If you need a guaranteed paycheck to feel secure, this probably isn’t the right fit, and that’s fine.
What a week looks like
- Appointments run 7 days a week, some in the evenings and on weekends.
- Expect about 45–50 focused hours a week. This is a career, not a side gig.
- You’ll use a tablet, our presentation kit and our CRM. You’ll design the system with the homeowner, and you’ll leave every home with a clear yes, a clear no, or a firm callback date.
How we train you
You don’t need HVAC experience. We’ll teach you the equipment from zero.
The kind of person we’re looking for
In our experience, the advisors who earn the most aren’t the smoothest talkers. They’re the people who:
- Care about the person across the table and would rather recommend the smaller system that’s right than the bigger one that pays more
- Listen more than they talk. Homeowners should do about 70% of the talking.
- Can talk about money calmly, without flinching or apologizing
- Follow a process even when a step feels awkward
- Handle a “no” well and are ready for the next appointment
- Are coachable. You take feedback, practice out loud and keep getting better.
- Are self-driven. You don’t need someone checking on you to do the work.
People who often do well here: anyone with in-home or consultative sales experience (roofing, windows, solar, bath and kitchen remodeling, pest, security, insurance, auto, furniture, fitness). We also hire career changers who are good with people, like teachers, coaches, servers and bartenders, veterans, and former HVAC techs who want out of the attic.
This job isn’t for you if…
- You want a 9-to-5. Evenings and Saturdays are when homeowners are home.
- You’d rather wing it than learn a system.
Where it leads
We promote from within. The path runs from Home Comfort Advisor to Senior HCA, HCA Trainer, Sales Manager and General Manager. Several of our leaders started in this role.
Requirements
- Valid Florida driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
- Able to pass a background check
- Comfortable with a tablet and basic tech
- Able to get into attics and garages safely to look at equipment (you’re there to observe and document, not to do repairs)
- Professional appearance and on time, every time
