SJS Executives is seeking experienced HVAC/AC Mechanics for a possible upcoming contract in Montgomery and Tuskegee, Alabama supporting ongoing maintenance operations at two federal medical facilities.

***Position contingent upon Award***

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

The pay for this position is expected to be $24.52. per hour plus an additional $5.09/hr for Health and Welfare totaling $29.61/hr. The benefits are 11 paid federal holidays per year, and 56 hours of annual accrued Sick Leave (equivalent to 7 paid days off).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, lubricating components, and verifying proper system operation.
  • Inspect HVAC equipment to identify wear, inefficiencies, and potential mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC system malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace HVAC components including motors, compressors, thermostats, belts, bearings, and related equipment.
  • Monitor, adjust, and maintain central air conditioning systems to ensure reliable temperature, humidity, and ventilation control.
  • Maintain indoor air quality by ensuring proper operation of ventilation and air distribution systems.
  • Respond to service calls and perform corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with facilities maintenance personnel and other departments to support continuous building operations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while following all federal safety regulations and facility procedures.

Qualifications:

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial, institutional, industrial, or healthcare HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC systems and associated equipment.
  • Experience repairing and replacing motors, compressors, thermostats, and other HVAC components.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, heating, humidity control, and indoor air quality systems.
  • Ability to inspect HVAC equipment and identify mechanical and electrical deficiencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work on ladders, at elevated heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in hot environments and around moving machinery, chemicals, refrigerants, oils, and other occupational hazards.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear an OSHA-approved respirator when required and successfully complete required fit testing.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, eye protection, hearing protection, and approved face protection.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.
  • Ability to comply with all applicable federal safety regulations and workplace policies.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
