Position Overview
HVAC Install Technician will provide residential and smaller commercial HVAC system installations while delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technician I and II
- Follow defined installation procedures for HVAC/R equipment according to company instructions/policy, manufacturer installation instructions and salesperson notes
- Complete repairs, improvements, or installations within budgeted hours, in accordance with company standards, while maintaining quality workmanship.
- Start up new equipment and verify correct operation
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Collect for work performed if applicable.
- Clean equipment and work area upon completion of work
- Loading/unloading stock supplies and equipment in truck.
- Maintain material stock levels in service vehicle as well as keeping vehicle clean and organized.
- Acquire sufficient knowledge, skills, training, and information to achieve peak performance, continuous improvement, potential advancement, and a positive, productive work environment consistent with company goals and objectives.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others.
- Report problems with company tools or vehicle promptly.
- May be asked to perform other duties or work in other departments as needed.
Technician II
- Level 2 HVAC installation train and mentor junior installers and oversee jobs as needed.
- Identify and solve problems that might prevent the completion of work within budgeted time.
- Provide feedback and suggestions on ways to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within quality standards
- Maintain accurate job documentation, inventory usage, and installation reports.
Key Competencies:
- 3 or more years of HVAC installation experience for Technician II
- Previous leadership or crew lead experience preferred for Technician II
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, controls, and refrigeration principles for Technician II
- Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications for Technician II
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for Technician I & II
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varying weather conditions for Technician I & II
Qualifications:
- Proficient Verbal and Written English language skills
- Ability to follow and carry out both written and verbal instructions in a timely manner
- Ability to arrive on time daily and work unsupervised
- Ability to follow and perform installation procedures for HVAC/R equipment and troubleshoot problems
- Ability to follow controls/wiring schematic Technician II
- Ability to braze/solder/weld and perform minor field fabrication Technician II
- Ability to safely use ladders in performance of job duties including climbing and descending from a ladder.
- Ability to work at heights above ground floor level
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- Ability to install duct materials, fittings and insulation in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand duct lay-outs and plans Technician II
- Ability to build duct transitions using duct board and run refrigerant line sets Technician II
- Ability to set air handlers, furnaces, condensers, heat pumps and ductless equipment
- Required to participate in company provided technical training outside of work.
- Adaptability: Manage competing demands and frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment.
- Maintain professional well groomed, workman like appearance with no visible tattoos or piercings
- Maintain professional attitude at all times
Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability by Company insurance carrier
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 or more years of field experience installing HVAC systems Technician II
- EPA and NATE Certification preferred Technician II
- OSHA-10 will be required training through James Lane unless proof provided
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Workweeks are 5 Days: Monday through Friday; overtime will be required on an as needed basis
- Environment: Office operations and heavy interaction with employees of all levels
- Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, sitting and use of manual dexterity. Occasional lifting of objects over 10 pounds. Sedentary computer and keyboard use, occasional exposure to loud noise, and regular use of vision.
