Position Summary

The HVAC / Steamfitter Foreman is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and execution of HVAC, piping, and steam fitting work on assigned projects. This role oversees field personnel, manages daily jobsite activities, ensures compliance with safety regulations and project requirements, and maintains quality workmanship in accordance with company standards. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to achieve project objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and supervise HVAC and steam fitting crews in the installation of mechanical systems.
  • Assign daily work tasks and manage crew productivity to meet project milestones.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to apprentices and junior mechanics.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure seamless project coordination.

Project Execution

  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Ensure all installations comply with project requirements, industry standards, and company quality expectations.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues impacting schedule, productivity, or quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, manpower, and jobsite progress as required.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and routine jobsite inspections.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices by all crew members.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure jobsite conditions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in HVAC, steam fitting, or mechanical construction.
  • Prior experience leading crews and supervising field personnel.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, piping systems, and mechanical installations.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Completion of a union apprenticeship program or equivalent trade training.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience working on large commercial, industrial, healthcare, or institutional projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and active construction environments.


Salary: $23.59-$40.09 per hour

Pay is based on the current UA Local 22 union wage scale. Compensation will be determined by union classification and experience. In addition to hourly wages, employees receive employer-paid fringe benefits including health insurance, pension, annuity, and training benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
