Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for two HVAC Technicians. The primary function of the HVAC Technician is to install and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems and to examine malfunctioning systems and provide relevant repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities of Position -
50% - Maintain, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment including air handlers, vacuum pumps, compressors and exhaust fans by performing repairs and preventative maintenance such as lubricating parts, changing belts and replacing motors, motor bearings, sheaves, valves and other worn-out components. Maintain hot water heaters and chilled and hot water pumps by performing upkeep and preventative maintenance. Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems related to HVAC, refrigeration equipment and hot/chilled water pumps.
20% - Install refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment to include window units, chillers, refrigerators, walk in coolers, water fountains and other units.
10% - Treat water towers, clean and/or replace filters. Repair ducts and electrical wiring and switches.
10% - Design, fabricate and install sheet metal ductwork, condensate drain pans and condensate lines.
10% - Maintain tools, acquire materials from storeroom; clean shop storage areas and mechanical rooms, keep jobsite clean and safe. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Three years of related HVAC experience
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation-
- Valid Driver’s License
- EPA Refrigerant Certification

Job Type: University Support Staff
Appointment Duration: 12 months
Work Schedule: Full Time – Sunday through Saturday, depending on shift, 4-10 hour days
Salary: grade 7, $18.87 to $26.42 per hour
