Full job details

Seeking an HVAC Chiller Service Technician with a valid Connecticut D2 or S2 license for a direct hire opportunity with our client in South Windsor, CT. This position will perform maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and retrofits on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and boilers (water/steam).

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k! 

Pay: $40 - $55 per hour (based on experience)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on commercial chillers and boilers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform major repairs and component replacements on chillers and boilers.
  • Maintain and service supporting equipment, including:
    • Chillers and compressors
    • Purge units
    • Cooling towers
    • Pumps and motors
    • Valves
    • Boilers
    • Large unitary HVAC equipment
  • Follow all EPA requirements and procedures when recovering and handling refrigerants.
  • Replace components, gaskets, seals, bearings, and other mechanical parts as needed.
  • Perform boiler inspections and preventive maintenance teardowns in accordance with current Connecticut state codes and regulations.
  • Maintain all required trade licenses, certifications, and credentials.
  • Comply with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act and all applicable federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations.
  • Participate in required safety training.
  • Follow all established safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) when installing, maintaining, or servicing HVAC systems.
  • Interact with customers and clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Work overtime, evenings, and weekends as required by business needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid Connecticut D2 or S2 license required.
  • Commercial HVAC systems experience.
  • EPA Section 608 certification required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
  • Boiler and steam system experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding HVAC service work.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
  • Walk, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle tools and equipment.
  • Reach, balance, stoop, and work in confined or elevated areas.
  • Safely climb ladders and stairways.
  • Lift and move equipment and materials weighing:
    • 0–50 lbs. frequently
    • 51–100 lbs. occasionally
    • 101+ lbs. seldom
  • Work in a variety of commercial and mechanical environments.
  • Communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.
  • Perform tasks requiring close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Consistently utilize required safety equipment and PPE.
