Job Description:

The L3Harris Brevard County Facilities HVAC Manager is responsible for leading site HVAC operations across a large, multi-building facilities environment in support of continuous business and program execution. This role serves as the subject matter expert for HVAC systems and leads the planning, execution, and oversight of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and capital improvement initiatives. Operating in a highly collaborative environment, the position works cross-functionally with Electrical, Plumbing, Facilities, and program stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations with minimal disruption to business activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical HVAC expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to operational reliability, compliance, and infrastructure improvement.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead day-to-day HVAC facilities operations across a large campus environment, ensuring system reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for commercial and industrial HVAC systems, providing technical direction, troubleshooting support, and operational guidance.
  • Oversee and coordinate preventive maintenance, break-fix repair activities, and long-range capital improvement planning for HVAC infrastructure.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Electrical and Plumbing teams to support integrated facilities maintenance and infrastructure reliability.
  • Prioritize and manage HVAC work activities to support critical business operations and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure HVAC systems are maintained in compliance with applicable codes, standards, environmental requirements, and company policies.
  • Support development of maintenance strategies, equipment lifecycle plans, and asset reliability improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action development for equipment failures and recurring system issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractor support, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Monitor system performance, maintenance trends, and operational risks to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support planning, justification, and execution of capital projects related to HVAC upgrades, replacements, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Communicate facilities status, priorities, risks, and project updates with leadership, internal customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in accordance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Lead and develop facilities personnel through daily direction, prioritization, and technical mentorship.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, OR, In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related facilities/HVAC experience
  • Experience leading HVAC maintenance and operations in a large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or campus-style environment
  • 6+ years of relevant experience with HVAC systems, equipment, controls, and supporting infrastructure
  • Professional experience managing preventive maintenance programs, corrective maintenance activities, and facilities improvement projects
  • Prior or current professional experience leading teams and coordinating cross-functional efforts in a complex operational environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability facilities environments
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems
  • Knowledge of applicable HVAC, mechanical, safety, and environmental codes and standards
  • Experience with capital planning, infrastructure modernization, and equipment lifecycle management
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Demonstrated success in driving reliability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • EPA certification, HVAC licensure, or other relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Experience supporting cross-functional facilities operations including coordination with electrical and plumbing trades
