About the Role

As an HVAC Maintenance Technician at Team Cheeky, you'll perform thorough residential heating and cooling system maintenance while delivering a five-star customer experience. You'll inspect equipment, identify safety and reliability concerns, educate homeowners, and help prevent unexpected breakdowns.

This position is also one of the primary pathways into our HVAC Service Technician career track. Through hands-on experience, weekly training, coaching, and our clearly defined career ladder, you'll have the opportunity to develop your diagnostic and repair skills and advance as your abilities grow.

We're looking for someone who is dependable, coachable, comfortable communicating with homeowners, and committed to doing quality work. You do not need to know everything on day one—but you must be willing to learn, follow our process, and improve every week.

What You'll Do

  • Perform residential HVAC maintenance, tune-ups, and system inspections on furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, and indoor air quality equipment.
  • Follow Team Cheeky's complete maintenance process and accurately document all system findings.
  • Identify safety concerns, worn components, airflow issues, maintenance needs, and potential equipment failures.
  • Educate homeowners about the condition of their equipment and explain available repair, maintenance, and indoor air quality solutions.
  • Properly transition repair or replacement opportunities through company processes when additional assistance is needed.
  • Complete invoices, inspection forms, notes, photos, estimates, and other job documentation using ServiceTitan.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and fully stocked company vehicle.
  • Participate in weekly technical, customer-service, and communication training.
  • Follow all company safety standards and industry best practices.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience that earns five-star reviews and long-term customer relationships.
  • Complete the expected number of maintenance visits each day while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call rotations once fully trained and approved to do so.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a positive, coachable attitude.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with homeowners.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and field-service software.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Willingness to follow established maintenance, documentation, customer-service, and safety processes.

Preferred

  • At least one year of residential HVAC experience.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Previous HVAC maintenance or tune-up experience.
  • Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field-service software.
  • NATE Certification.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and mechanical systems.

Success in this Role

Our strongest Maintenance Technicians consistently:

  • Complete thorough, accurate maintenance visits without cutting corners.
  • Follow the established inspection and tune-up process every time.
  • Arrive on time and communicate professionally with homeowners.
  • Clearly explain system conditions and recommendations without using high-pressure tactics.
  • Identify legitimate repair, indoor air quality, maintenance, and replacement opportunities that benefit the customer.
  • Submit complete notes, photos, forms, invoices, and job documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck, uniform, and work area.
  • Earn five-star customer reviews.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, a positive attitude, and a team-first mindset.
  • Apply training in the field and steadily develop the skills required to advance into HVAC service.
