Are you a college student looking to gain real-world business experience this summer? United Mechanical is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our team in San Jose!

As a Engineering Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting commercial HVAC and Plumbing system design while learning from United Mechanical’s engineering and project management teams.

Throughout the program, you'll build technical skills, contribute to real projects, and connect with experienced industry professionals. Training sessions, lunch-and-learns, jobsite and shop tours, and team-building activities will give you a closer look at our business and the mechanical construction industry.

Program Duration: June–August; dates may vary based on your summer schedule

What You'll Do

• Support System Design: Assist the engineering team with HVAC and/or Plumbing system design for commercial projects.
• Perform Engineering Calculations: Support load calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, acoustics, psychrometrics, controls, fixture loading, and pressure-loss calculations.
• Create Engineering Drawings: Assist with preparing and updating drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Participate in Field Surveys: Help survey and document existing site conditions and equipment to support engineering design.
• Support Energy & Code Compliance: Assist with preparing required energy compliance documentation and LEED calculations, and learn to interpret applicable codes, regulations, and project specifications under the guidance of your mentor.
• Contribute to Project Deliverables: Organize assigned work, communicate progress, and manage your time to meet project schedules and deadlines.

Compensation

$28.00 per hour
